Intercultural competence: Globalization makes knowledge of intercultural communication belong to the basis skills necessary in order to adequately practice most professions. This knowledge implies among other things the acquisition of:
- insight in factors which affects intercultural encounters
- knowledge of the relevant concepts of the topic, and
- awareness of possible causes and consequences of prejudice and discrimination
Such knowledge enables the management of an institutions to improve their skills in dealing effectively with intercultural problems. A specific course in this regard is now offered at the University of Tilburg. Intercultural Mediation and Consultancy (IMC) has the expertise to initiate courses which fit within the specific curricula of a university or institution.
